FuelWide

Cookie policy

FuelWide has no accounts and no tracking of its own. The cookies that can appear come from two Google services: AdSense, the advertising that keeps the site free, and Analytics, which counts visits so we know which pages are worth writing. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland neither sets a cookie until you agree in the consent banner. Last updated 21 July 2026.

Analytics cookies (third-party)

Google Analytics tells us how many people read a page and which countries they come from. It stores a random ID, not your name or email, and we never use it to target ads.

CookieSet byPurpose
_gaGoogle AnalyticsDistinguishes one browser from another so repeat visits are not double-counted. Holds a random ID, not your identity.
_ga_S6LSQZYY1SGoogle AnalyticsKeeps track of the current visit (session state) for the FuelWide property.

In the EEA, UK and Switzerland these are set only after you accept in the consent banner. If you decline, Analytics still records the page view anonymously and without cookies, so we can count visits without anything being stored on your device.

Advertising cookies (third-party)

Google and its certified partners may set cookies to serve ads, measure performance, cap repetition and prevent fraud. Typical examples:

CookieSet byPurpose
__gads / __gpiGoogle AdSenseAd delivery and measurement on this site — frequency capping, fraud prevention.
IDE / other doubleclick.net cookiesGoogleCross-site ad personalisation and measurement (only with your consent where required).

The exact set varies by region and consent state; Google documents its cookies at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies. Decline consent (or block cookies) and you'll see non-personalised, contextual ads instead — the site works identically.

Your choices

  • Consent banner — in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, accept or decline advertising and analytics cookies before any are set; reopen it any time from the footer to change your mind.
  • Google Ads Settings — control personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
  • Industry opt-outs aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.eu.
  • Browser settings — block or delete cookies entirely; every FuelWide feature keeps working.

First-party browser storage (not cookies)

A few small preferences live entirely in your browser's localStorage. They identify nothing, track nothing, and are never transmitted to us:

KeyTypePurposeLifetime
fw-themelocalStorageRemembers whether you picked the light or dark theme with the header toggle.Until you clear browser data or toggle again
fw-display-currencylocalStorageRemembers the display currency ($ € £ C$) you picked on car cost pages.Until you clear browser data
fw:overpass:*localStorageCaches gas-station map search results so revisiting a city loads instantly instead of re-querying the map data service.24 hours, then refreshed
